H. Jon Benjamin Hopes Archer Goes On Long After He
Is Gone
By MATT RAINIS
FXX’s hit spy comedy “Archer” has proven its ability to constantly reinvent itself over its 12-year run, with each season taking on distinct themes since Season 5. Despite series creator and longtime showrunner Adam Reed leaving the show after the tenth season, and the passing of legendary comedic actress Jessica Walter in 2021, “Archer” has been able to maintain its quality.
The show’s star, H. Jon Benjamin, has expressed his optimism for the series’ future and believes that “Archer” may even outlive himself, though he added, “It's really up to the producers of the show.” When asked when he thought about the show’s lifespan, Benjamin said, “I don’t know, I think just based on these characters interacting, another 40 years.”
“Archer” could easily join the ranks of “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” as an animated series with a long lifespan if it keeps going. The show hasn’t been renewed past its thirteenth season, but current showrunner Casey Willis seems confident that the network will continue the series and that “Archer” will be given “a proper ending” when they decide to conclude it.
