Even Thor: Love And Thunder's Director Thought The CGI Was Bad
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
The CGI in director Taika Waititi's 2022 film "Thor: Love and Thunder" has been a point of contention, with even Waititi himself criticizing its quality in a Vanity Fair video.
In particular, Axl's largely out-of-focus telepathy sequence, where his head appears in midair, surrounded by a cheap, rainbow-like "fuzz," has faced widespread ridicule.
Despite the film's hefty $250 million budget, Waititi seemed baffled by how bad the visuals looked, seemingly attributing the poor quality to "underpaid VFX artists."
His criticism drew backlash from Dhruv Govil, a VFX artist, who said Marvel was a "horrible client" that constantly tried to reduce costs while overworking effects houses.
An exposé in Vulture supported these claims, detailing how Marvel's practices forced VFX houses to underbid and meet unreasonable demands for changes and tight deadlines.
