Emma D'Arcy Has Two Characters
on Their Mind Going Into House Of
The Dragon Season 2
By JENNA BUSCH
When Emma D'Arcy took over as Rhaenyra Targaryen halfway through Season 1 of “House Of The Dragon,” their character's interaction with Alicent Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke, lessened because of the breakdown in their characters' friendship. It's for this reason that D'Arcy hopes Season 2 will feature more scenes with Cooke, albeit Cooke wasn't their only option.
In a recent interview with GQ, D’Arcy said that both of them were “fighting for more screen time together,” but sadly, we didn't get many scenes between the older Rhaenyra and Alicent. If both of them get their wish, audiences can expect great scenes with great acting because both actors have shown that their characters are equally compelling in their own unique way.
As far as the other actors, D'Arcy said, “The other one is Corlys Velaryon, (played by Steve Toussaint). I think Rhaenyra really seeks to claim surrogate fathers, and I think she is drawn to him somewhat.” It makes total sense Rhaenyra would want a father figure since her father had passed away and she wasn’t there to see his body get roasted by a dragon.
