Dune’s Baron Harkonnen Made A Bizarre Cameo In A Popular Anime

The influence of "Dune" stretches across the globe, as seen by Kouta Hirano's manga "Hellsing," which features a cameo from the character Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.
In "Hellsing" chapter 14, Seras Victoria has a dream where she meets the "spirit" of her gun (named The Harkonnen), who looks just like Baron Harkonnen (down to the floating).
If you're familiar with "Dune" from the Villeneuve movies, you may not recognize the Baron in "Hellsing." This is because of Villeneuve's choices in adapting the Harkonnens.
In Villeneuve's Dune, the Harkonnens are all bald albinos who wear Spartan black clothing. In earlier adaptations, they had colorful clothes and red hair.
Villeneuve wanted the Baron to be less of a caricature in his movies, but a parody is precisely what he is in both "Hellsing" and Lynch's "Dune."
