Doctor Who's Centenary Special Now Has a Title
By RYAN SCOTT
The title for the upcoming “Doctor Who” centenary special has been announced in the latest issue of “Doctor Who Magazine.” The episode, expected to premiere in October, will be titled “The Power of the Doctor,” and will serve as a goodbye to Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor; the actor made history as the first woman to play the iconic character.
The synopsis for Whittaker’s final feature-length special reads: “Her final battle. Her deadliest enemies. The Thirteenth Doctor faces multiple threats from Daleks, Cybermen and the Master, in a fight for her very existence.” After Whittaker's Doctor is sent off, actor Ncuti Gatwa, who is taking over as the Fourteenth Doctor, will likely make an appearance.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall commented, “Jodie’s final feature-length story contains a plethora of treats and surprises for audiences and fans, not least the return of two of the most beloved companions in the show’s history [Ace and Tegan].” The cast for the episode also includes Mandip Gill (Yaz), John Bishop (Dan), Bradley Walsh (Graham), and Sacha Dhawan (the Master).
