Disney’s Live-Action Snow White Isn’t Canceled, Despite What You’ve Heard
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
Disney has released a series of big-budget live-action remakes of its animated classics, with the latest upcoming film being “Snow White,” starring Rachel Zegler.
The casting of Zegler, a Latina actress, has sparked some backlash among certain groups for being “woke,” leading to rumors that Disney canceled the film entirely.
This rumor was fueled by a satirical article from right-wing comedy website Mouse Trap News, where they announced Disney was shelving the project due to controversies.
This was a joke, and "Snow White" still plans on a March 22, 2024 release. The film also faced criticism from Peter Dinklage for the original’s portrayal of dwarfism.
However, the actor’s comment was made before set photographs revealed that the “seven dwarfs” had been reimagined as one dwarf character and six non-dwarf characters.
Whether there’s actually any “controversy” over the film, there’s been no official confirmation that “Snow White” canceled, making these rumors completely false.
