Disney Is Hiding Box Office Stats For Daisy Ridley’s New Movie
By RYAN SCOTT
Daisy Ridley, known best for her role as Rey in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, has a new, critically acclaimed movie in theaters called "Young Woman and the Sea."
Disney didn't launch a huge campaign for the film’s release and isn’t sharing the official figures, but believes it could qualify for awards later in the year.
Believing it was a winner, Disney put the movie in theaters. Rather than send it directly to Disney+, though, the short theater run could bring some awards season prestige.
While the audience is relatively small so far, those who have seen it seem to love it — it has an 84% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a near-perfect 98% audience score.
