Nope About?'
By LEX BRISCUSO
Jordan Peele’s upcoming horror film “Nope” stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, and Barbie Ferreira. When asked in an interview about what his movie was about, the director gave a wink to the film’s title by first answering “Nope!” and then proceeding to give an in-depth description.
The key word in Peele’s premise for “Nope” was “spectacle.” He explained, “I started off wanting to make a film that would put an audience in the immersive experience of being in the presence of a UFO. And I wanted to make a spectacle [...] I started to dig into the nature of spectacle, our addiction to spectacle, and the insidious nature of attention. So that's what it's about.”
Peele then finished his description with a more standard line of “and it’s about a brother and sister, and healing their relationship." The brother-and-sister duo own a desert horse ranch for tourists that they use to try and make contact with aliens, and viewers can find out more when the film is released July 22nd.
