Did The Mosquitoes From Gilligan's Island Exist In Real Life?

In the season 2 episode of "Gilligan's Island," "Don't Bug the Mosquitoes," a Beatles-esque band named The Mosquitoes visits the island to escape their fame for a while.
Many viewers wondered whether The Mosquitoes were a real band or not. Unfortunately, this pop supergroup was invented for the series — though it did feature some real musicians.
The original "Gilligan's Island" theme song was provided by real-life folk pop trio The Wellingtons, and three members of The Wellingtons guest-starred as The Mosquitoes.
Actor Les Brown Jr. played Bingo, while the rest of the group was made up of Wellingtons members: George Patterson as Bango, Ed Wade as Bongo, and Kirby Johnson as Irving.
