DC’s Titans Gave Alan Ritchson Low Expectations For Reacher
By JOE ROBERTS
Prior to the Season 1 success of Prime Video’s “Reacher,” star Alan Ritchson remained skeptical about how his show would fare, having seen the way things went with "Titans."
Debuting on the now-defunct DC Universe streaming service, “Titans” was ultimately folded into HBO Max (now just Max) partway through its run, then canceled shortly after.
While Ritchson's character died in Season 3, the actor was around long enough to witness this change of streaming platform, and it sowed the seeds of doubt regarding “Reacher.”
Ritchson explained, “[T]here was this huge Warner Brothers rolling out with DC, this new platform, and they're like, ‘This is gonna be monstrous,’ and it fizzled out.”
“It got swallowed up by HBO, [...] You just never know what to expect. And so I sort of just go in expecting that and, you know, manage my expectations,” continued Ritchson.
In hindsight, he needn't have been so wary, as “Reacher” caught on from the get go. Now even grandmas ask for autographs, prompting him to say, “Everybody is watching this thing.”
