David Boreanaz & Emily Deschanel Fought Fox And Changed Bones Forever
By SANDY SCHAEFER
Following the end of “The X-Files” in 2002, Fox aimed to fill the void with “Bones,” a crime dramedy with two contrasting co-workers, echoing the dynamic of Mulder and Scully.
David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, or Special Agent Seeley Booth and Dr. Temperance Brennan, respectively, resisted Fox's attempt to make it merely a fill-in for “The X-Files.”
While discussing his and Deschanel's efforts on the show, Boreanaz told Entertainment Weekly that the pair met with an acting coach every weekend, rewriting and rehearsing scenes.
This may explain why Fox executives were constantly one step away from axing "Bones" throughout its tenure, even as the series attracted a steady viewership year in and year out.
Boreanaz added that despite constant issues with the studio over the 12 seasons, this time, “We won because we kept that drive and people responded [...] We're proud of that."
