Dan Harmon Called In A Ringer To Finish The Community Movie Script
By MICHAEL BOYLE
The upcoming “Community” movie has fans excited to see their favorite study group on screen again, though there are some concerns with the project. Some have wondered if Dan Harmon still has his writer’s edge and can deliver a satisfying film to fans, but the creator isn’t writing the script alone, explaining that one of the show’s previous writers is helping with the movie.
Harmon said, “I’m working with Andrew Guest [...] he wrote the Dungeons & Dragons episode, and so he’s going to help me make sure that I don’t pull a Harmon when that script is getting executed so that we can actually deliver it and start shooting it.” What he means by “pull a Harmon” seems to be referring to the creator’s tendency to fall behind schedule and go over budget.
While Guest’s “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” episode was removed from Netflix in June 2020 due to briefly showing Chang with his face painted black, many considered it one of the funniest episodes. Guest also wrote the scripts for episodes like “Messianic Myths and Ancient Peoples” and “A Fistful of Paintballs,” the first installment of the two-part Season 2 finale.
