Christopher Nolan’s Original Inception Idea Was Actually A Horror Movie
By JEREMY SMITH
Known for directing "Interstellar" and "Oppenheimer," Christopher Nolan briefly explored "Inception" as a horror in an untold chapter of his creative journey.
At first, the director imagined a film filled with subconscious terror, where the dreamer is highly vulnerable in a dream state — a concept Nolan found "immensely compelling."
At a recent British Film Institute Q&A, the director again expressed interest in tackling a horror picture. “I think a really good horror film requires a really exceptional idea.”
Since Nolan has never gone more than three years between movies, it's not too early to speculate as he concluded, "I haven't found a story that lends itself to that."
