Casting Eva Green In Casino Royale Worried Everyone But Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig proved a particularly contentious choice when was cast as James Bond in 2006's "Casino Royale," but he wasn't the only casting decision that caused issues.
The decision to cast Eva Green to play Vesper caused concern among many people working on the production. The issues arose during her first screen test with Craig.
Director Martin Campbell recalled that during the screen test, the French actress had "quite a heavy accent,” an issue that proved stressful for nearly everyone involved.
Although Green promised she could project an upper-class English accent once she started work, it didn’t do much to quell concerns over her thick, native intonation.
Green recalls being asked to return for a second screen test because the producers were "[...] not fully satisfied. So, I was crying. It's very stressful.”
As it turns out, Daniel Craig was instrumental in getting her the part. According to producer Barbara Broccoli, it was Craig who said, "Oh, we've got to have her."
