Breaking Down The Controversy Surrounding Horror Thriller Raw

Julia Ducournau's feature debut "Raw" uses visceral horror to examine adolescent yearning as a young vegetarian develops a taste for meat, including humans.
Unfortunately for Ducournau, her depiction of this gory cannibalism was too much for some audiences to handle, becoming sick after viewing the film.
During a Midnight Madness screening at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016, two audience members fainted from the visuals, with several other viewers walking out.
Variety explained why "Raw" evoked such a strong reaction, explaining that the scenes were "so realistic that they are hard to look at."
