Borderlands Director Eli Roth Used Something Disgusting As Inspiration

Pets can play a significant part in people's lives, such as for horror director Eli Roth, who revealed that his French bulldog inspired him to pitch a "Borderlands" movie.
In SFX magazine, Roth explained, "Whenever I take her for a walk and she has to go to the bathroom, she won't let me look at her. I have to look away because she gets really shy."
He continued, "But one day I filmed her. She had that shy look on her face and I was like, 'That's Claptrap.'" This image actually became the pitch for the movie.
After learning that Claptrap can be shot hundreds of times without dying, Roth sold his movie to the studio execs with a scene where Claptrap removes the bullets from his rear.
The scene has the clunky one-wheeled robot Claptrap seemingly pooping out bullets. Roth shared, "That was my pitch to Lionsgate. They were laughing so hard."
