Being LeVar Burton’s Daughter Didn’t Get Mica Burton Her Star Trek: Picard Role

The final episode of “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” called “All Good Things…,” showed fans a possible future for all their favorite characters, some of which have become canon and been featured in “Picard.” One notable element is LeVar Burton’s Geordi La Forge having three children, one of which is played by the actor’s actual daughter in “Picard,” Mica Burton.
The actress began her career in 2015, appearing in Matt Hullum’s “Lazer Team” and hosting various online pop-culture shows while establishing herself rather than relying on her father’s celebrity status. When the “Picard” opportunity arose, she said, “It coincided with a time in my career that I felt I had established myself in my own right, and now would be a really fun time to work with my dad.”
LeVar Burton was happy to work with his daughter, sharing, “On many levels, it was next level. Because not ever having expected this, this soon in her career, this comes as a great surprise, as well as a great gift.” Although both are happy to be working with each other on “Picard,” Mica Burton’s tone indicates the actress is determined to continue carving out her own career.
