Director Tim Burton's decision to make "Beetlejuice 2," a sequel to his 1988 classic "Beetlejuice," was significantly influenced by his experience working on Netflix's "Wednesday."
After losing interest in the movie industry and traditional studios, Burton found a renewed sense of creativity and enthusiasm while filming "Wednesday" Season 1 in Romania.
According to Burton, he "enjoyed the experience." In a chat with Empire Magazine, he admitted, "It reenergized me a little bit, and it triggered things about 'Beetlejuice' for me."
Burton enlisted the help of "Wednesday" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to write the script. Now, "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" is slated to release on September 6, 2024.
