Band Of Brothers Almost Ended Dominic Cooper's Acting Career
By SARAH MUSNICKY
Dominic Cooper is one of those actors who, when compared with his contemporaries, has slipped under the radar despite delivering consistently great work. That being said, Cooper has put out stellar work like his memorable take on the Reverend Jesse Custer in AMC's "Preacher" and the HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers.”
However, in a 2018 interview, he said his experience working on the miniseries crushed his spirits and made him reconsider his career as an actor. Cooper said it was an incredibly daunting experience not only because he’d “never been on a film set and I was terrified," but also due to the competition on set.
He recalled the other young male actors Andrew Scott, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender were actively competing with one another. "It was all to do with my own insecurities,” he explained “It was [...] competition and masculinity at its highest level. I just wasn't ready for it. [...] It could have been quite damaging. I could have gone, 'Nah, this isn't for me.”
