Anthony Hopkins Gave Brad Pitt Some Sage Advice On The Legends Of The Fall Set
By MIKE SHUTT
Anthony Hopkins is a Hollywood legend, and at 85 years old, he shows no signs of slowing down his acting career. He lives his life the way he wants to, and this attitude is reflected in the words “F*** it,” which he said to Brad Pitt on the “Legends of the Fall” set, when Pitt was just starting his movie star career.
In a piece for Interview Magazine where he had a conversation with Hopkins, Pitt recalled when he heard Hopkins say the words and how it became a kind of life mantra for him. He stated, “‘F*** it.’ That was one of the first things I heard you say [...] And it always stuck with me. It seems to be a theme, a guiding principle.”
Just like Pitt had heard the phrase from someone he respected, Hopkins had also heard it from someone that he wanted wisdom from. He revealed, “I once asked a Jesuit priest, ‘What is the shortest prayer in the world?’ He said, ‘F*** it.’ It's the prayer of release. Just say, ‘F*** it.’ None of it is important. The important thing is to enjoy life as it is. Your life today, it's fantastic.”
