Anjelica Huston’s Addams Family Costume Was Anything But Comfortable
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
In 2018, “The Addams Family” star, Anjelica Huston, told the Guardian about her Morticia costume, the terribly uncomfortable makeup, and the facial applications she had to wear.
Morticia wore a form-fitting, black gown that director Barry Sonnenfeld wasn't about to change. The satin dress that Huston was outfitted in wasn't easy to move in.
The dress had a corset, which didn't allow her to bend, sit, or move easily. Huston also wore a long black wig, oversized false eyelashes, and extra-long stick-on fingernails.
To get that gaunt, skeletal look, Huston also had to apply "face suspenders," which stuck to her temples and were pulled back behind her skull.
The suspenders slightly changed the shape of her eyes and made her already notable cheekbones stand out. Huston liked her look, but she hated the makeup.
After filming, she destroyed it all. "I had a bonfire of the vanities at the end of the movie, where I took all the fake stuff, made a pile and set it on fire,” Huston said.
