A Ranking Of The Best Episodes Of The Hit Show 'Lost'
By LIAM GAUGHAN
21. Deus Ex Machina
"Deus Ex Machina" continues to develop Locke's tragic origin story. The episode reveals that Locke finds his estranged father in need of a kidney transplant.
It seems like Locke's father truly cares for his son, but after the surgery, he wakes up and realizes that he has completely abandoned him.
20. Tricia Tanaka
While "Lost" is a mostly serious show, it's not short on humor. "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead" is one of the most entertaining episodes of the series.
Hurley, Sawyer, and Jin have to get a beaten-down DHARMA van running again. It's entertaining to watch these characters spending some time with one another.
19. Ab Aeterno
Although the last season focused on the mythology of the show's lore, it never forgot what made the series successful: empathy for its characters.
"Ab Aeterno" gives the viewers the tragic backstory of Richard Alpert and delivers some answers by focusing on the characters' humanity, not the island's bigger mysteries.
18. Flashes
"Flashes Before Your Eyes" teased two of the show's most important future events by developing Desmond's former life and revealing Charlie's destiny.
The episode explores Desmond's relationship with Penny and sets up Charlie's satisfying character arc conclusion after the former singer learns he'll eventually die saving Claire.
17. The Brig
"The Brig" features one the most satisfying character deaths on "Lost" after Locke's father, Anthony Cooper, is brought to the island by the Others.
It's also revealed that Cooper was responsible for the death of Sawyer's parents. After Cooper tries to pin Sawyer's tragic upbringing on his father, Sawyer murders him.
