A New Horror Cinematic Universe Is Quietly Coming Together

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s latest film, “Abigail,” not only shares some familiar themes with their 2019 movie, “Ready or Not,” but also hints at a deeper connection.
In an interview with Collider, the pair admitted that they snuck in an Easter egg that could technically tie both films into the same shared universe.
According to Bettinelli-Olpin, “There is a portrait in the background of one of the scenes [in ‘Abigail’] of Henry Czerny’s [character from ‘Ready or Not’].”
Gillett explained the family connection to Czerny’s loathsome and wealthy patriarch, Tony Le Domas, saying, “It would be a grandfather. A great, great, great, great grandfather.”
While this could be a fun gag the directors decide to include, Bettinelli-Olpin did state, “There is a little bit of a tie to the ‘Ready or Not’ universe within the movie.”
