A Marvel Comics Writer Claims Kevin Feige Demanded Kamala Khan’s Death
By DEVIN MEENAN
Marvel fans love actor Iman Vellani as the spunky heroine Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, but her storyline in the comic books was in jeopardy for a while.
Khan heroically dies in 2023’s "Amazing Spider-Man" #26 but gets a quick resurrection when she awakens in "X-Men: Hellfire Gala 2023.”
However, on an episode of the "Amazing Spider-Talk" podcast, writer Cody Ziglar revealed that Ms. Marvel's death in the comics is due to a request made by Kevin Feige.
According to Ziglar, “Amazing Spider-Man” #26 writer Zeb Wells said that Feige asked him to kill Ms. Marvel because it would fit into MCU’s franchise narrative.
Ziglar said that Wells “was like, 'F***, I'm the guy that drew the short straw? People are going to be very mad that I have to kill Ms. Marvel.’”
Marvel Studios has not released a comment yet, while Marvel Comics denied Ziglar's story to Gismodo, insisting that it was an editorial decision to have Kamala join the X-Men.
