A Long-Lost Piece Of Star Trek History Has Finally Been Found
By JEREMY MATHAI
Historically, "Star Trek" has used all sorts of innovative production designs, and one that had been lost to time has managed to find its way back where it belongs.
Recently, a previously lost 33-inch model of the USS Enterprise used in the classic opening credits for "The Original Series" was listed on eBay for $1000.
The model mysteriously went missing after creator Gene Roddenberry lent it to be used in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." The seller claimed to have found it in a storage unit.
After being alerted to its significance, the seller authenticated the item and gave it to Eugene Roddenberry, Jr., the son of Gene Roddenberry, for an unspecified reward.
