A Hilarious Fan Encounter Proved Star Trek’s Popularity To Patrick Stewart

“The Best of Both Worlds,” the season 3 finale of “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” left fans on a cliffhanger that they had to wait a whole summer to see the resolution of.
It ends with the Borg, a relentless species of cyborgs, brutally assaulting the Enterprise. They trap Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) and assimilate him into their collective.
In his autobiography, “Making It So: A Memoir,” Patrick Stewart recalls a moment while driving around Los Angeles when he received an angry message from the next driver over.
He wrote, “I waited at a red light, a car pulled alongside me and the passenger window opened. The driver leaned across his front seat to yell at me, ‘You have ruined our summer!’”
“The Next Generation,” had a rocky start, but when talking about that particular summer, Stewart said, “This same period is when I fully grasped how popular our show had become.”
