A Beloved Kurt Russell Movie Is Getting A Remake With Glen Powell
By JEREMY SMITH
Brian Grazer, who produced 1991’s “Backdraft,” recently revealed in an interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box that a remake is in the works.
Kurt Russel starred in the original movie, but Grazer and his Imagine Films Entertainment partner, Ron Howard, are looking to cast emerging superstar, Glen Powell, as the lead.
"Backdraft" isn't a sophisticated movie. The screenplay unabashedly gets away with cliches amongst a thrillingly seamless blend of practical pyrotechnics and invisible optical f/x.
CGI was in its infancy when "Backdraft" originally hit theaters, but it’s a dangerous-looking movie. Howard and cinematographer Mikael Solomon were literally playing with fire.
