14 Movie Sequels We Absolutely Did Not Need
By DAVID COURT
Blues Brothers 2000
Only slightly redeemed by its soundtrack, "Blues Brothers 2000" is a beat-for-beat copy of the original featuring an annoying, wisecracking kid sidekick.
The Matrix: Reloaded
At the end of "The Matrix," Neo can manipulate the Matrix at will and effectively becomes a god. There’s no need for sequels if a character can always win.
Highlander II
While the original was a fun, throwaway action film, "Highlander II: The Quickening," throws unnecessary backstory into a convoluted mess of a plot.
American Psycho 2
"American Psycho 2: All American Girl" wasn't written as a sequel, so the plot is unrelated and Patrick Bateman only appears in the introduction.
Terminator 3
"Terminator 3" feels like a cynical excuse to prolong a story that had already ended. It's a chase movie with none of the style or intelligence of its predecessors.
