Sin City 2 Update: Script Completed, Shoot In Spring

Sin City 2 is all ready to go according to creator/co-director Frank Miller.

Miller hopes to shoot the film this Spring in Austin, Texas at Robert Rodriguez' Troublemarker Studios.

"The script is largely done, and now we're in that limbo zone where we're casting and making script adjustments as we go," Miller revealed.

Sin City 2 is based on A Dame to Kill for, the second Sin City tale and a prequel to The Hard Goodbye, which was the basis for Marv's story from the first film. Miller also revealed that the sequel will also deal with "a couple of old stories and one brand-new one."

"The old ones are a couple of 'Blue Eyes' stories, and there's an 'Old Town Girls' story, and the new one features Nancy Callahan [played by Jessica Alba] in a very different, very scary role. I'm hoping we'll start in late spring. It gets pretty hot in Austin, so there might be a summer's interruption there, but both Robert and I really want to be shooting this thing as soon as possible."

The Book Description for A Dame to Kill for follows:

It's one of those hot nights, dry and windless. The kind that makes people do sweaty, secret things. Dwight's thinking of all the ways he's screwed up and what he'd give for one clear chance to wipe the slate clean, to dig his way out of the numb gray hell that is his life. And he'd give anything. Just to cut loose. Just to feel the fire. One more time. And then Ava calls.

Casting: Angelina Jolie was the fan favorite. But last month rumors leaked that Rachel Weisz may replace Jolie in the film due to conflicts. Nothing has been confirmed.

Miller and Robert Rodriguez will again share directing duties on the sequel. Expect Sin City to hit theaters in 2008.
