The Lighthouse Review

Robert Eggers smashed onto the indie scene with his 2015 Sundance hit The Witch. A highly stylized, theatrical film with dialogue drawn from the 17th century and a diabolic edge, the film made ten times its budget and garnered carte blanche for his follow up film. In the interim, iconic actor Willem Dafoe approached Eggers and said he’s do anything the director wrote. Thus was born The Lighthouse, an acerbic, haunting film of maritime madness and mayhem.

Just this morning, we heard about what’s in store for Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, on the upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Now we know who will be at the helm of the new series: Kari Skogland (The Walking Dead) has been hired to direct the six-episode show. She already has several major TV credits to her name, including another MCU show in the now-cancelled Netflix series The Punisher.

John Hillcoat, director of dark, disturbing movies like The Proposition and The Road, is teaming with master of neon-sleaze Nicolas Winding Refn for a Witchfinder General remake. Based on the 1968 Vincent Price movie of the same name, Witchfinder General is a historical horror film about real-life figure Matthew Hopkins, and the terrible, torturous deeds he performed in the name of “witch hunting” in the 1600s.

Galaxy's Edge theme song

Earlier this month, Disney released John Williamsfull orchestral version of his Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite…but visitors will never actually hear that version of his theme song in the parks. (Well, I guess they technically could download the track and just listen to it through headphones, so there’s a workaround for you.) They will, however, hear little snippets of it and several pieces of music that were inspired by it.
