Lost: The Final Season To Premiere In February

ABC has announced today that the sixth and final season of Lost will premiere on Tuesday, February 2nd 2010 with a special " all-night event." Basically, the night will kick-off at 8:00pm et with a one-hour recap special, followed at 9:00pm et with a two-hour premiere. More details after the jump.

The series will then air in its regular time period, on Tuesday nights from 9:00-10:00pm et beginning the following week, February 9th 2010. The show had been on Wednesday nights, which are now slotted with a sucessful comedy line-up the network didn't want to move around. ABC is trying to figure out the rest of its midseason schedule, but it's believed that the V will take over the Tuesday 10:00pm slot following Lost.

Is the season goes off without a break, and Lost's two hour finale is counted as two of the announced eighteen episodes (which is probably the case) then we will see the two hour finale of lost on May 25th, 2010 — right at the end of Sweeps. As it appears right now, Lost will will also go up against NBC's coverage of the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and will not take the a much rumored break.

ABC also confirms in the press release that Nestor Carbonell's Richard Alpert, Ken Leung's Miles, Jeff Fahey's Frank Lapidus and Zuleikha Robinson's Ilana have all been upgraded to series regular status, and that Emilie de Ravin is back full-time as Claire. Henry Ian Cusick's Desmond is not listed as a season-six regular, although he'll be appear as a recurring character.
