LOL: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Gets Reimagined As An Ensemble Romcom
Iron Man's got his high-tech suit, Captain America's got his super-soldier serum, Hulk's got his gamma ray-induced rage powers, and Hawkeye's got his Katniss Everdeen-level archery skills. But the Avengers' true secret weapon might be bromance.
Any blockbuster can offer city-destroying CG mayhem, and these days most of them do. What makes the MCU the MCU is all the stuff that happens in between — the quips, the bickering, the friendship, the flirting. Take away the superpowers and high-tech gadgets and megalomaniacal robots, and you're left with the foundation for a solid ensemble romcom.

Vulture served up the Marvel Cinematic Universe romantic comedy remix, titled How to Avenge a Guy in 10 Days. The footage is pulled mostly from Avengers: Age of Ultron (and the accompanying blooper reel), though there's also a bit of Captain America: Civil War mixed in for all you Stucky fans.
You jest, Vulture, but I would watch the crap out of a Marvel Cinematic Universe romcom. Of course, I'm also the person who would've been perfectly happy with Avengers: Age of Ultron being a two-hour version of that party scene. It's genuinely a shame that a universe big enough to include tree-aliens, rage monsters, and Norse gods can't also find room for a simple, down-to-earth ensemble comedy. Superheroes enjoy wacky, contrived meet-cutes too!
In fact, most of Earth's Mightiest Heroes are no stranger to the genre. Chris Evans (Captain America), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), and Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) all appeared in What's Your Number?; Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon) hooked up in He's Just Not That Into You; Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) had extremely athletic sex in They Came Together; and so on.
Vulture is far from the only one that's picked up on the (b)romantic vibes coming out of the MCU. Anthony Meadows (via Moviefone) noticed, for example, that that Captain America: Civil War trailer is all about the deep love between Captain America and Bucky, and decided to drive the point home by setting it to Adele's "Hello."
Of course, there's a right way and a wrong way to romcom-ize the MCU. Earlier this year, Saturday Night Live helpfully demonstrated the wrong way (though it was a right way to go as a parody).
