LeBron James And Method Man Join Judd Apatow's 'Trainwreck'

No matter what you think about Judd Apatow's movies, you can't deny he pulls in a lot of stars for each one. Even The 40 Year Old Virgin, his first movie, is packed with major stars in even the smallest roles. (Sure, at the time, some may not have been that big, but that also demonstrates his eye for talent.) He's apparently doing the same thing with his next movie, Trainwreck, written by and starring comedy darling Amy Schumer. Apatow recently revealed NBA mega star Lebron James would appear in the movie along with legendary rapper Method Man.

Apatow revealed the casting in this video.

James isn't the only athlete in the film, either. The casting update before this one included WWE superstar John Cena, so you have to imagine each of them would play themselves. Maybe Schumer's character, and possibly her boyfriend played by Bill Hader, go to a bunch of sporting events and interact with the players. That's just a guess.

Trainwreck is currently slated for a July 24, 2015 release. It stars Schumer, Hader, Brie Larson, Colin Quinn, Barkhad AbdiMike BirbigliaJon GlaserVanessa Bayer, John CenaEzra Miller and Tilda Swinton. That's quite an eclectic cast of rising comedy stars, hugely talented Oscar caliber actors, incredibly great bit players and now a few rappers and athletes too.

Written by and based on a pitch by Schumer, who has recently been in the news because of her interview with a 106-year-old-woman, Trainwreck is about "a basket case who tries to rebuild her life." It'll be Schumer's first major starring role, and it's perfect timing really. With the second season of her show Inside Amy Schumer continuing to build buzz, Apatow and Universal have likely backed the right lady.

Do you think James will play himself in a film? Is he a good match for Apatow?
