The 15 Coolest Things On The 'Jurassic World' Website

Jurassic World is still several months away but it's a pretty good bet it'll have the best movie-themed website of 2015. Maybe of all time. The site has been up for a few weeks. Slowly but surely, it continues to update with new and cool additions. The basic idea is this isn't a site for a movie. It's pretending to be a site for the actual Jurassic World theme park that just happens to be seen in the movie. A park that finally figured out all the problems from the first few films and has been running quietly, and safely, for some time now.

We've been surfing the crap out of the awesome faux-theme park site and found our fifteen favorite things about it. Below, read all about them.

Here are the 15 coolest things about the Jurassic World website, in no particular order.

The Park Cam

The Jurassic World website has several "live" cameras running so you can watch what's happening at the park right now. How long is the line at a certain ride? Is the T-Rex out today? You can see it all in these streaming videos. This would be a cool idea even for a real park let alone a fake one. Watch the videos here.

Jurassic World tickets

Multiple Ticket Packages

Any theme park worth a visit offers its attendees multiple ticket packages and Jurassic World is no different. From the Standard Package, to the John Hammond Package all the way up to the top of the line Apex Predator Package, the park has information – including time of stay, accommodations, pricing, and even freebies and reviews like on Yelp – for all levels. It's insanely detailed and you can explore them all at this link. But, note, when you click "Buy Tickets," it just brings you to Fandango for movie tickets that don't exist yet.

Site Wide Park Info

On every page of the site, a drop down in the top left gives you up-to-the-second information on what's going on in the park. The weather, the capacity, how long line waits are, what's the next big event happening, etc. And each frame has multiple different options that are changing constantly. For example, it says one thing in the screenshot above, but sometimes there's a "Mr. DNA Meet and Greet" or "T-Rex Feeding." All very informative plus it turns off when the park is closed. One down side? All the social media links are for the movie, and not park stuff. Maybe that updates as the movie gets closer. The Info is best seen from the home page.

Travel, Stay, Play, Discover, Eat, Shop

The Jurassic World website offers a whole bevy of options to plan your hypothetical trip to the island. It gives you hotel options, travel options, dining options, shopping options, nightlife options, all of which feature photos of people who are most likely not in the film. There's info on a golf course, gondolas, helicopter rides, you name it. Most of those stuff will probably not play into the film, or just be seen in the background, but it's essential information for anyone who would travel to Jurassic World. You can check out all those options and more here.

Investor relations

Every website has information on the people footing the bill, usually at the bottom of the page. But on the Jurassic World site, there are links to a whole other site called Masrani Global. And that site on its own is just a whole other bevy of information on the creation of the park and more. There are multiple photos of actor Irrfan Khan, who plays Masrani himself, and that suggests the corporation will play a major role in the film. The site is www.masraniglobal.com.

Park Map

The Jurassic World park map is absolutely insane. You can look at the island, see where everything is located, toggle icons on and off, and then read more about each of those features on the island. It doesn't seem to be complete yet cause lots of the dinosaurs are missing, but they do have lots and lots of cool features such as a write up on the Tyrannosaurus Rex Kingdom. The full map is here and deserves is own full article itself.

Dinosaur breakdowns

No Jurassic World website would be complete without a ton of information on dinosaurs. And on the Dinosaurs page, you can click and read about every single dinosaur on the island. So you can read about the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops as well the Mosasaurus, aka the Jaws like underwater one. Several species have yet to be unlocked, like the Velociraptors, but the newest addition is the Indominus Rex, a highly aggressive carnivore.

IMAX Theater

Technically, this is just a facet of the Park Map but we're talking cool things and the fact that Jurassic World has its very own IMAX theater is just awesome. The theater seats 890, according to the website and there's even a funny nod to what's probably going to happen on the island. "If it seems like a T. Rex is breathing right behind you, it just might be." I hope that's a spoiler. Read and see more here.

Jurassic World Steakhouse

Winston's Steakhouse

Again, this is technically part of the "Plan Your Visit" section but it's just too cool not to point out. It makes sense for the website designers to create a restaurant for the site but they go above and beyond by creating an entire menu. A menu you can download right here. It's very expensive and, considering the island is packed full of chain restaurants (see Main Street on Page 3), this seems to be the highest end food onthe park.

Jurassic World Feed

Safety First

The safety section of the Jurassic World website is by far the funniest. It talks about emergency protocols, electric fences and feeding the dinosaurs. All things that will almost certainly go horribly wrong in the film. And the photos, like the ones above, are priceless. See it all here.

Jurassic World Gyrosphere

Gyrosphere

Of all the attractions at Jurassic World, it seems like the Gyrosphere is both the coolest, and most important, of the movie. The trailer shows it numerous times and the website talks about it a lot, showing photos of the lines, and rules on how it works. The sphere has a top speed of 5 miles per hour and all the animals on the ride – 30 total –  are herbivores. You can find out about it at this link.

Jurassic World Cruise

The Cretaceous Cruise

If the gyrosphere is the biggest ride at Jurassic World, the Cretaceous Cruise is the most intense. The website reports riding it burns 500 calories and you see 100 different species of dinosaurs as you paddle down the river. It aims to provide a true prehistoric experience and from the photos, it looks like it goes close. Read all about it here.

Jurassic World bottle

Main Street

The Main Street of Jurassic World has 37 shops and 20 restaurants, many of which you can learn about on the website. Main Street is the hub of the park, linking to everything, and you've seen it a bunch in the trailers. The website expands by adding a bunch of new photos and really making Main Street feel like a super fun, super family friendly area. There are even 26 different holograms there. See photos and more here.

Jurassic World Mr DNA

Mr. DNA is Back

A Creation Lab section of the Jurassic World website takes a user through the process of making a dinosaur with everyone's favorite batch of chromosomes, Mr. DNA! Yes, he's back in Jurassic World, at least on the website. There are also a bunch of cool images of amber and that good stuff. See it all here and above.

Raptor Pass

Raptor Pass

Despite all that cool stuff on the Jurassic World website, the best part is that the movie is still several months away and there's obviously much more coming. This isn't even the tip of the iceberg. To find out about everything that gets added, you just have to sign up for the Raptor Pass at this link.
