James Spader Talks Preparation For 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron'

Fall 2013 is a pretty good time to be James Spader. The actor not only stars in one of the highest rated new TV series of the season, The Blacklist, he's preparing to battle Earth's Mightiest Heroes in one of 2015's biggest films. Spader will be playing the evil robot Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron, written and directed by Joss Whedon, and the actor recently talked about the role. He revealed he recently went into for body scans and more for the early 2014 shoot and spoke about his excitement. Read the quotes below.

Spader spoke to The Inquirer (via Comic Book Movie) about the latest on Avengers: Age of Ultron, which opens May 1, 2015:

I have spoken to Joss Whedon about it. And yes, actually, just this weekend I went in for them to take very extensive photographs, head scans, body scans, and all kinds of things in preparation for figuring out how the hell I'm gonna fit in this Ultron character!

He also spoke to The Independent:

I think it'll be a lot of fun and it's incredibly nostalgic for me. When I was a kid my best friend had trunks of comics and I didn't have any so I used to love going for sleepovers at his house. Also I have three sons and two of them have a great interest in comics so they're excited I'm playing the role.

It certainly sounds like he's coming at the role from the right place, especially since it's likely Spader's face won't appear in what's sure to be his highest grossing film of all time. What are your thoughts?

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015. Written and directed by Joss Whedon it stars Spader, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth and maybe even Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen.
