James Cameron's AVATAR In IMAX 3D

20th Century Fox has officially announced that James Cameron's Avatar will also be released in IMAX 3d (as if anyone didn't already expect this) simultaneously on December 18th 2009. The one surprising thing about the announcement is the following quote from James Cameron:

"The larger field of view and powerful surround sound of an IMAX(R) theatre will completely immerse the audience in a way that cannot be experienced anywhere else."

Is it wrong for me to assume from that statement that the movie will somehow be full screen on the IMAX screen in the IMAX 3D release? Full press release after the jump.
