'Doctor Strange' Stan Lee Cameo Revealed

The Stan Lee cameo is a Marvel tradition, and it's one we can look forward to seeing continue next month in Doctor Strange. Thanks to an IMAX footage presentation earlier this week, details have emerged on the Doctor Strange Stan Lee cameo. Click through to find out where and when you can expect him to pop up.

ComicBook.com attended the Doctor Strange IMAX footage presentation and came back with the details on Lee's cameo. Be warned there are spoilers ahead. Here's how they describe it:

In what looks like one of the most epic foot chases in cinematic history, Doctor Strange and Mordo are running down streets, up building sides, and across the sky as the world warps around them. After Kaecilius bends the building on which Mordo and Strange are running, they fall to the ground and into the side of a bus. As they fall, the camera angle switches to a point of view from inside the bus, revealing Stan Lee reading Aldous Huxley's The Doors of Perception.

As Strange and Mordo smash into the bus' window, Lee bursts out saying, "Now, that's hilarious!" until the camera swaps again and the chase continues.

Since ComicBook.com saw only a small slice of the film, it's possible Lee has more to do in the full film. But given that his cameos are usually short and quick, we wouldn't count on it. Oh, and for those who are wondering, The Doors of Perception is a philosophical essay written by Brave New World author Aldous Huxley about his experiences with mescaline. It sounds like a nod to the film's psychedelic vibe.

The fact that Lee has a cameo shouldn't come as a surprise. Not only has he shown up for every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to date, the 93-year-old comics legend confirmed last month that he'd already shot his role for Doctor Strange. In fact, while he was at it, he knocked out his cameos for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming as well, so you can expect to keep playing "spot the Stan" for the next year at least.

Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4.
