Solo: A Star Wars Story is arriving on Blu-ray, just in time for audiences to discover it’s not nearly as bad as some people claimed it was. In fact, it’s fun! And you can finally see Bradford Young’s cinematography the way it was intended to be. Solo is joined by the star-studded Ocean’s 8, the must-have Universal Monsters box set, and, uh…Gotti!

The Last Blockbuster Beer

There’s already a documentary being filmed about the last Blockbuster Video store in operation in the United States up in Bend, Oregon. And that’s about to get a little more exciting with the unveiling of an official Blockbuster beer.

The 10 Barrel Brewing company, owned by Anheuser-Busch, is releasing a limited edition Blockbuster inspired beer that will be released at a special block party at the surviving video store. Crimson Peak suffered at the box office, primarily because of poor marketing. The gloriously gothic romance was sold as a straight-up horror film, and that’s not exactly what Guillermo del Toro was delivering. A vocal cult following for the film has sprung up since the theatrical release, and now Arrow Video is set to distribute a Crimson Peak Blu-ray that gives the movie the attention it deserves.

Batman The Animated Series Blu-ray

One of the most satisfying announcements to come out of San Diego Comic-Con was that Batman: The Animated Series would finally be getting the high-definition Blu-ray box set that the series deserves. And now that special edition release has gotten even better.

The Batman: The Animated Series Deluxe Limited Edition box set already included all 85 episodes of the beloved show from the 1990s in gloriously remastered high-definition, as well as a cavalcade of special features including a new 60-minute behind the scenes documentary, almost a dozen episode commentaries, a bunch of featurettes, and much more. Now it’s even cheaper and will come with a digital copy of the entire series too. Read More »

Hook 4K

I realize it’s popular to crap on Hook, Steven Spielberg‘s 1991 movie that tells the story of what happens to Peter Pan when he becomes an adult. But even if Spielberg himself doesn’t look back on it fondly, the film still has its fair share of supporters – including yours truly – and they may be interested to know that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is about to release a Hook 4K Blu-ray.
