McDonald’s really pissed off Rick and Morty fans last fall. The fast food chain released limited quantities of their beloved and desired Szechuan dipping sauce that debuted as part of a cross-promotion with Mulan in 1998 after the third season of Rick and Morty made such a big deal out of it. But the quantities were so limited that what was supposed to be a fun promotion turned into a pop culture riot.
After the Szechuan wars resulted in plenty of complaints being thrown at McDonald’s, the fast food chain vowed to make it right by making infinitely more Szechuan sauce available so that everyone could get their hands on it. They vowed to bring back the sauce sometime this winter, and now we know exactly when we can get it. Read More »
Rick and Morty fans had a nearly two-year wait between the Adult Swim show’s second and third season. That was difficult enough and it sounds like they’ll have to do it all over again while waiting for the show’s fourth season.
Series writer Ryan Ridley recently participated in an interview where he indicated that Rick and Morty may not return for a fourth season until 2019, and even he’s not particularly happy about that. Read More »
There are only two weeks until Christmas arrives, but that’s plenty of time for you to get schwifty with some killer new holiday gear courtesy of Adult Swim’s fantastic animated series Rick and Morty.
Under normal circumstances, there’s no good reason to go into a Spencer’s gifts unless you need to get something for your dirtbag friend, or you just need a tacky white elephant Christmas gift. But since Spencer’s has some cool, exclusive Rick and Morty holiday gear that is only available for the next couple weeks, it might be time to bite the bullet and head to your local shopping mall.

Over the weekend, Rick and Morty fans had the opportunity to do what Rick Sanchez has been unable to do on the series so far: get their hands on the limited edition Szechuan sauce that was released by McDonald’s in 1998 as a cross-promotion with Disney’s Mulan. It seems like a clever enough promotion by McDonald’s, but they were woefully unprepared for the demand from Rick and Morty fans for the coveted sauce.

Two words: Peanut butter. If I remember anything about what went down at the Archer: Danger Island panel at New York Comic Con Saturday evening, it’s that Lucky Yates (Dr. Krieger) was taught how to poop at age 3, when he opened the refrigerator, spied a jar of peanut butter and…success!
This story, shared by Yates himself, set the tone for what would become a delightfully random panel conversation between actors and apparent friends Aisha Tyler, Amber Nash, and Lucky Yates along with writer Casey Willis and director Bryan Fordney about their hit animated FX series held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in front of a packed audience that extended all the way down the street. While the crowd found this entertaining, the talk focused on the show, which will be celebrating its 9th season premiere early next year. And we got a chance to watch it.

The third season of Rick and Morty came to an end this past weekend. But it feels like just yesterday we were all caught off guard by the surprise third season premiere, which revealed the apparent primary motivation for all of Rick Sanchez’s galaxy traveling was all in an effort to get back the limited edition Szechuan sauce that McDonald’s once sold as a cross-promotion for Disney’s 1998 animated movie Mulan. The episode prompted fans to be just as hungry as Rick was for the dipping sauce, and now they’re finally going to get it.
Since the third season premiere of Rick and Morty aired, series co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon received their own big Szechuan sauce bottle straight from McDonald’s, and a few lucky fans also received some as well (one even sold it for a ridiculous amount of cash). This time, McDonald’s is making the sauce available to everyone, but only for one day. Find out more about how McDonald’s Szechuan sauce returns this month below. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Earlier this year, Adult Swim brought us the fifth and final season of the acclaimed Emmy-winning animated series Samurai Jack. After an initial run that lasted from 2001 through 2004, the series from Genndy Tartakovsky disappeared for 13 years, only to be revived to finish the story of the titular samurai’s battle with the shapeshifting demon called Aku. Soon you’ll be able to have every episode of the series in high-definition.
Cartoon Network and Adult Swim have have announced a Samurai Jack complete series box set that will have the first four initial seasons of the series as well as the final fifth season from the revival earlier this year. Though the first four seasons have been available on DVD for awhile now, this marks the first time they’ll be available on Blu-ray.

The third season premiere of Rick and Morty got everyone talking about the Mulan Szechuan sauce that McDonald’s once had during a 1998 cross-promotion with the Disney animated movie. McDonald’s had to deal with a petition signed by thousands asking them to bring it back after Rick revealed his life’s goal was to get the sauce back, no matter how many seasons it took him. But rather than satisfying everybody by reviving the sauce at their restaurants, the fast food chain decided to keep things a bit lower key by sending a big bottle to series co-creator Justin Roiland.
As the letter that accompanied the mythical sauce indicated, it was just the first bottle they were sending out, and a few other fans would have to chance to dip chicken nuggets in this precious condiment soon enough. It turns out McDonald’s gave away three more bottles of the sauce to fans who retweeted them during the return of the third season a couple weeks ago. One of the recipients decided that selling the elixir was better than dipping some Chicken McNuggets in it. So how much did the Mulan Szechuan sauce sell for? Find out below. Read More »
