Watch Zack Snyder's 'Batman V Superman' / 'Star Wars' Mashup

Like Star Wars, but wish it were a little more like Batman v SupermanZack Snyder has you covered. The DC director has taken it upon himself to mash up the Batman v Superman trailer with Star Wars, reframing the conflict as "Dark Side Knight v Superjedi." It's a cute little exercise, but one that's bound to ruffle some feathers in both fandoms — especially once you realize this means he's cast Batman as some sort of Sith lord.

Snyder shared the Batman v Superman Star Wars mashup on Vero True Social. What's Vero True Social? Why, it's the real reason this clip exists — to drum up attention for the nascent social network. I'd literally never heard of it until this video started making the rounds, so mission accomplished, Snyder.

And if it doubles as marketing for a certain other upcoming project, that's fine too. Here's what Snyder had to say about the video:

Dark Side Knight v Superjedi. In anticipation of Rogue One, I wanted to share a little Star Wars fan film I made after JJ released his Hunka Junk mash-up... long overdue.

Fans of Snyder and Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams may recall that the two had a friendly rivalry going during production on their respective projects, trading Photoshopped images that combined the two franchises. That inside joke culminated in that "Hunka Junk" video Snyder mentions above. That video was our very first look at the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it featured a little Batmobile on the underside of the ship. So, this is Snyder's response:

It makes perfect sense to cast Superman as "Superjedi," since he's a light side type through and through. But I really like the idea of Batman as a dark side type. No, Batman isn't evil in the DC universe. But all those nouns Yoda throws out about the dark path? "Anger, fear, aggression"? If that doesn't sound like the Batman v Superman version of Batman, I don't know what does. Plus, we already know Batman loves dramatic black capes, just like Darth Vader.
