Cloverfield Shoots Flashback Sequence At Coney Island

Cloverfield shot some footage for a flashback sequence at Coney Island.

"It's about an alien that wipes out all of New York City," one of the owners told the New York Post. "The footage is taken the day before everyone dies. A bunch of kids come to Coney Island with a video camera. The movie is a flashback to that day."

Hmmmm an alien that wipes out New York City? I guess that doesn't really give us any new information. But it does put to rest some rumors that claimed the film doesn't involve an alien creature. According to the report, the production filmed a few scenes in front of the now-defunct and chained-up B&B Carousell, the famous boardwalk and at a hot buttered corn booth.

The article also says that NY1 reporter Torre shot "a lot more scenes than the one you see in the trailer." She was kept in the dark about the project ("I had no idea that this was going to be a big-budget film or an independent type movie.") and was forced to sign a nondisclosure agreement, and I'm not supposed to talk about it."
