Update: A leak of the full trailer, in measurably better quality, is now available. Since it doesn’t seem to be the official release, we’ve just added it to this post and bumped. Look out for the official release, hopefully with HD, very soon.
Last night E! showed part of the first trailer for Tarsem Singh‘s Immortals, and a bootleg video of the segment is online. The footage seems to make up most of the film’s teaser trailer, and shows off a lot of post-300 action, filtered through Tarsem’s recognizable style, and shows off most of the core cast that includes Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, John Hurt and Mickey Rourke. Check it out after the break.
Beyond even the fact of the annoying voice-over, the quality here is pretty lousy. Though in a way that adds to the aesthetic — it makes Immortals look like a dusty VHS tape of a forgotten film from the early ’80s. Which is what it should be, in a way. That rapid-fire bow action at the end, that is so reminiscent of Hawk the Slayer, sure didn’t help break the comparison.
Part of the attraction here for those who haven’t seen The Tudors or Stardust will be a look at Henry Cavill, the next Superman, going through action beats for Tarsem. He looks great, and it is really easy to imagine him wearing the big ‘S.’
We’ll update with a post for the high-quality trailer when it arrives. Immortals opens on November 11.
Here’s the better quality full video:
