Watch The 'Transformers' IMAX 3D Trailer And "Premake", Plus: Everything Wrong With 'Transformers 2'

Even on a summer movie calendar jam-packed with big-budget blockbusters, Transformers: Age of Extinction stands out as one of the biggest, most blockbuster-iest of all. Indeed, it was literally designed to be seen on the largest screen you can find — director Michael Bay shot scenes in native IMAX, as this new Transformers IMAX 3D trailer is happy to inform you.

Lest you get blinded by all that flash and glamour, though, we also have two videos that cast a more critical eye on the franchise. Kevin B. Lee's video essay Transformers: The Premake is the kind of behind-the-scenes documentary you'll never see released as a DVD bonus, while Cinema Sins' Everything Wrong With Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen reminds us of all the missteps from the second installment. Watch all three videos after the jump.

For an entirely different look at Transformers: Age of Extinction, it's worth checking out Transformers: The Premake. Lee's insightful video combines fan footage, set photos, news articles, and viral clips to explore the complicated relationships between studios and fans, productions and local communities, Hollywood and the Chinese government, and so much more.

Of course, for all that trouble, there's no guarantee Transformers: Age of Extinction will actually turn out well. Remember how flawed Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was? Cinema Sins does. In fact, they have so many complaints about the film that Everything Wrong With Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen runs about 20 minutes long — about eight minutes more than their last video, Everything Wrong With Frozen.

Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27.

TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION is the fourth film in director Michael Bay's global blockbuster franchise. The film begins after an epic battle that left a great city torn, but with the world saved. As humanity picks up the pieces, a shadowy group reveals itself in an attempt to control the direction of history... while an ancient, powerful new menace sets Earth in its crosshairs. With help from a new cast of humans, Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) and the Autobots rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet. In an incredible adventure, they are swept up in a war of good and evil, ultimately leading to a climactic battle across the world.
