Toy Story 3 Oscar Campaign

As you probably know by now, Disney and Pixar have been pushing for not only Best Animated Feature, but the Academy Award for Best Picture. We've written in the past about the ambitious Oscar campaign launched by the mouse house — Industry trade newspaper advertisements which feature characters and scenes from the film compared to previous Best Picture winners that had something going against them such as being a different genre, a sequel or a plain old underdog. Films such as The Godfather Part II, West Side Story, On The Waterfront, Shakespeare In Love, The Silence Of The Lambs, Titanic, The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King and Forrest Gump.

We've featured a couple of these ads on the site in the past months, and today we learned that Disney has released the whole batch of "for your consideration" campaign ads on their online awards site. Hit the jump and see all of the advertisements in Disney's Toy Story 3 "Best Picture" Oscar campaign.

Rich Ross, Walt Disney Studios Chairman:

"Everyone at Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios is immensely proud of TOY STORY 3. Featuring dazzling imagery and a heart-rending story by Michael Arndt, it is undeniably an original in every way. We wanted our campaign, therefore, to honor this very special film's inventiveness, and its uniqueness with like-minded, self-effacing good humor, and to the point, with something original of our own. Calling out these fun-loving comparisons to Best Picture winners from Oscar's past matched with specific images from the film, we feel, reminds us of the many unforgettable moments from TOY STORY 3, and what we love about it in the first place. We believe in TOY STORY 3's capacity to disarm and transport even the most world-weary of us, and we hope these images go even a small way to bring a smile to your face, and remind us what the best movies are capable of doing, getting inside of us and never letting go."
