Next season, The Simpsons is really shaking things up. We’ve already heard the Treehouse of Horror episode will give Sideshow Bob his ultimate wish, and now executive producer Al Jean has revealed they’re going to fool around with one of the show’s most sacred institutions. The 27th season will premiere with an episode that sees Marge and Homer get legally separated. Find out more about the storyline, and some other new Simpsons episodes including an homage to Boyhood, below.
Simpsons executive producer Al Jean talked to Variety about the upcoming season of The Simpsons and talked about a bunch of upcoming cameos and storylines. Here’s the biggest:
In the premiere, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage. Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham. We’ll have cameos from the other women from “Girls.”
As we all know, though, nothing on The Simpsons sticks and (spoiler!) Homer and Marge were meant to be together. They’ll be back together by the end of the episode, but it’ll still be interesting to see this happen.
Another awesome episode tease:
We have an episode based on the film “Boyhood.” It’s a flashback/flashforward about Bart. We go to various points in his life and his life to come which I think came out really well.
Jean also mentions that Spider-Pig will be back, Kate McKinnon will provide a voice and then talks about another movie:
The movie was such a time-intensive operation, it pulled a lot away from the show. I would rather end the show whenever that happens before doing another movie. It’s unlikely there’ll be another “Simpsons” feature while the show is being produced.
I love that The Simpsons continues to move ahead and try new things. This show could probably go on forever. What do you think of these ideas?Cool Posts From Around the Web:
