The Scorpion King 2, But Why?

I'm man enough to admit that I didn't hate The Mummy Spin-off/prequel The Scorpion King. But at the same time, I'm not sure I've ever met anyone that loved the flick. The movie made some modest cash back in the day riding high from The Mummy franchise, and largely due to the then emerging action genre career of wrestler turned actor The Rock. And now Universal thinks they can squeeze some more money out of the series, and has hired Resident Evil: Extinction director Russell Mulcahy to helm the project, according to Shock. Isn't it funny how some of these directors just go from one bad project to the next? I guess someone has to do it. No word on if The Rock will return. Although, I would hope not. I tend to believe he has risen above this type of film (but I could be wrong). But the bigger question is, if they make The Scorpion King 2, will anyone see it?
