The Overnight is a hilarious and perceptive relationship comedy that turned up at Sundance this year. Adam Scott and Taylor Schilling play a couple new to Los Angeles; at a park with their young son, they meet cool dad Jason Schwartzman, who invites them over for a little “welcome to the neighborhood” dinner with his wife, played by Judith Godrèche. And then things slowly but surely get weird.
The film is a raunchy comedy, but it isn’t just a raunchy comedy — there’s some really sharp stuff here about how making adult friendships can be really weird, and how dealing with all the weird stuff you’re into can be really difficult when you’re not sure if your partner is into it, too. Check out The Overnight trailer below.
The Overnight opens on June 19. Trailer via Yahoo.
