'The Muppets' Strange Teaser Poster [Updated With Better Quality Image]

Update: We've got a much higher quality version of the poster, which you can see below. It looks a bit better when seen as it was meant to be, and without the Donnie Darko tube of cameraphone flash coming out of Kermit's chest.

When we saw the logo for Disney's upcoming The Muppets it looked just about right. Now a reader-snapped image of the film's first teaser poster has hit AICN and it looks, well, kinda weird. Check out a slightly bigger version after the break.

It's strange to see most of the Muppets in full-body form. And the tagline (really? that's the tagline?), poses and lighting all make this look more like Muppets from M. Night Shyamalan than from Jason Segel. I'm going on the belief that this is real, and the hope that Disney will quickly move on to a more Muppet-friendly design.

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, "The Muppets" hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
