Though last week’s release of The Dark Knight Rises makes the summer season feel all but over, there are still a few notable pieces of popcorn entertainment on the way. One of the most intriguing of those is The Bourne Legacy, which Tony Gilroy co-wrote and directed as a parallel spin-off from the existing Bourne trilogy that starred Matt Damon.
Jeremy Renner plays a new agent who acts as the focus for the new storyline, and a new featurette goes behind the scenes of the new film to make clear the links between the old Bourne and this story.
There’s not a lot in here that most people couldn’t figure out from the Bourne Legacy trailers that have been released so far, but there are a few good bits of behind the scenes footage to enjoy, especially for fans of Renner.
Apple has the video in HD. The Bourne Legacy opens on August 10.
The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.
