The release of 25 different magazine covers for X-Men: Days of Future Past both answered a bunch of questions but raised a bunch too. We found out what Quicksilver was going to look like, and saw the modern Sentinels, but at the same time, why did Wolverine have metal claws in the future considering what happened in The Wolverine? And wasn’t Rogue cut out of the film?
In an new interview, director Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinberg answered those questions and even addressed the next announced X-Men film, X-Men Apocalypse, calling it “more of a First Class sequel.” Read the quotes below. Read More »
So what’s up with that future Sentinel design in X-Men: Days of Future Past? The first image of the mutant-killer of the future debuted late last night via an Empire Magazine cover, and instantly raised some eyebrows. While the first couple generations of Sentinels seen in the film bear a certain resemblance to the fan-favorite design known from comic books, this is pretty far afield of any design we’ve seen.
There are vague hints of the “ultimate Sentinel” Nimrod in the robot’s “face,” but more pointers to the classic design of the shape-shifting cybernetic alien Warlock, from the X-Men spin-off New Mutants. The T-1000 might be in there, along with some video game inspiration, and maybe a bit of the Alien xenomorph. Until we see this thing in motion it’s difficult to get a bead on how well it will work, though there is obviously a strict design principle at work.
After the break, the film’s production designer explains that principle. Read More »
There might be a lot of new stuff to see from X-Men: Days of Future Past today. Empire Magazine is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and will be revealing 25 different Days of Future Past covers over the course of the day. We’ll update as new installments come in. Maybe there’ll be some new footage, too.
The first features our best look yet at one of the versions of the Sentinels. Those are the giant robots which, based on early marketing, may serve a general military purpose in parts of the story’s timeline. Eventually, however, if the film holds true to the comic book story from which it takes its name, the Sentinels will be adapted to hunt and kill mutants. They’re relentless; a massacre is coming.
Other covers feature mutants and humans both familiar and new, including the Days of Future Past versions of Bolivar Trask, William Stryker, Toad, Magneto, Quicksilver, and many more. Bryan Singer’s portrait seems to be the midpoint of a giant scroll image, which now moves forward with the “future” version of Wolverine. So previous images of characters like Magneto and Charles Xavier will probably be duped with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. Will the end feature the final Sentinel design? We’ll be updating this post as more covers are revealed, so check back throughout the day.
Update: As expected, the final cover is the previously-unseen design for the Sentinel of the future. Check it out below.

In the Marvel Universe, everyone knows the big names: Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, Captain America, etc. They probably even know some less popular characters too. But in 2014, a little known character is getting ready for the spotlight: Quicksilver. The mutant speedster, a son of Magneto in the comic books, will make his feature debut in Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past on May 23 before appearing again in 2015′s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
We’ll likely get our first glimpse of the Avengers version of the character sometime this summer but, today, you can see what the character, played by Evan Peters, looks like in the X-Men universe. Check it out below, along with a new image featuring Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Read More »
